Why temperature control matters
Heat has to be high enough to aerosolize the formulation but not so high that it quickly degrades the oil or produces a burnt taste.
A device running too hot may:

- Overheat the heating element
- Produce a burnt or scorched taste
A device running too cool may:

Airflow should feel controlled
Airflow affects how the device activates, how the aerosol forms, and how the draw feels.
A good device should not require extreme suction. Pulling too hard can draw excess oil toward the airway and contribute to flooding or clogging.
Airflow that is too open can feel thin and may not activate some draw-sensitive devices reliably. Airflow that is too restricted can make the product frustrating to use.

Draw-activated versus button-activated devices

Draw activation

The tradeoff is additional complexity and a greater possibility of accidental activation if the device is carried without being turned off.
Neither system is automatically better. Reliability is what matters.
What makes a good battery?
The battery should last long enough to use the oil in the device.
Battery capacity is usually measured in milliamp-hours, abbreviated mAh. A larger number generally indicates more stored energy, but capacity alone does not predict complete performance.
Battery life also depends on:
- Heater resistance
- Power output
- Draw length
- Activation frequency

Packaging protects the device
Packaging is not only about appearance.
It should help protect the product from:

- Physical damage
- Dust and debris
- Excessive light
- Heat
- Tampering
- Confusion with non-cannabis products

Stop using a device that is damaged, leaking significantly, overheating, or behaving unpredictably.
How to store a disposable properly
Storage can materially affect performance.
